Kids’ Fishing Day set for Saturday

Kids Fishing Day runs again

The annual Kids’ Fishing Day is set to return Saturday for the opening morning of spring trout season.

Sponsored by the Northern Illinois Anglers Association, the free event runs from 8 a.m. to noon for kids age 15 and younger at the Bird Park Quarry, 801 W. Station St.

Fishing poles, tackle, bait and one-on-one coaching from NIAA members will be available for those who need it.

Hot chocolate and doughnuts will be provided.

Participant Karson Reynolds, 12, right, of Bourbonnais, awaits the measurement of his first catch by Northern Illinois Anglers Association's vice president Bob Anderson, left, and board member Jeff Enfield, during the return of the group's popular Kids Fishing Day at the Bird Park quarry in 2022.
