Public invited to Annie Glidden North meeting Tuesday night to discuss gun violence, grocery store plans

Meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Welsh Park Shelter in DeKalb

DeKALB - A neighborhood group in Annie Glidden North is inviting the public to join them tonight, Tuesday, July 27 at 6 p.m. in Welsh Park to hear updates related to housing, plans for a grocery store, transportation and neighborhood safety and security.

According to a news release from event organizers, the meeting Tuesday at the Welsh Park Shelter, 651 Russell Road in DeKalb, will include discussion on gun violence in the neighborhood.

“It will take all of us working together to stop the shootings and to deal with those who do not care about the neighborhood,” organizers said in the news release. “The change begins with us working together.  Stop shooting, start living. Save our streets. Let’s do it for our children and for ourselves.”

There will also be updates provided on discussions related to a grocery store, housing and commercial development, infrastructure, and community services.

The neighborhood meeting, hosted by nonprofit Opportunity DeKalb, which formed out of the city’s now defunct Annie Glidden North Revitalization Taskforce, is free and open to all, and will include free food and beverages.
