The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 457 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 12 additional deaths Thursday, and a total of 12,622,470 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered.
The 457 new cases is the most in a single day since June 5, though the total new cases still remains far below where the state was even two months prior.
For Wednesday, the state administered 28,288 shots.
The state received the results of 34,783 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday afternoon. The state’s positivity rate increased to 0.8%.
Illinois has seen 1,392,196 total cases of the virus, and 23,237 people have died. The state has conducted a total of 25,831,883 tests since the start of the pandemic.
As of late Wednesday, Illinois had 405 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Of those, 84 were in intensive care units, and 34 were on ventilators.
The state now is up to a total of 105 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
Vaccine update: As of Thursday, IDPH reported a total of 14,236,895 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been distributed statewide, with 12,622,470 vaccines administered.
As of Thursday, 6,180,810 Illinoisans have been fully vaccinated, or 48.51% of the population. Illinois has a population of 12,741,080 people.

The North Suburban (McHenry and Lake counties) region’s positivity rate increased to 0.9%. Currently, 30% of ICU beds are available.
Within this region, McHenry County’s seven-day positivity rate average stayed flat at 0.8%. Lake County, which does about two-thirds of the testing in the region, is reporting a rolling average of 0.9%.
Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable nine out of the past 10 days in this region. The region is down to a total of 15 COVID-19 patients in the hospital.
The West Suburban (DuPage and Kane counties) region’s positivity rate increased to 1.0%. Currently, 36% of ICU beds are available.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity rate increased to 1.5%, and DuPage County’s increased to 0.8%.
Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable nine out of the past 10 days in this region. The region is down to 31 total COVID-19 patients in the hospital.
The South Suburban (Will and Kankakee counties) region’s positivity rate stayed flat at 1.0%. Currently, 30% of ICU beds are available.

The North-Central (Bureau, Fulton, Grundy, Henderson, Henry, Kendall, Knox, La Salle, Livingston, Marshall, McDonough, McLean, Mercer, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Tazewell, Warren and Woodford counties) region’s positivity rate increased to 1.0%.
Within this region, La Salle County’s seven-day positivity rate increased to 1.0%. Currently, 35% of ICU beds are available. Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable for five out of the past 10 days. The region is down to a total of 41 COVID-19 patients in the hospital.
Chicago’s positivity rate increased to 0.4%. Currently, 22% of ICU beds are available. Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable for 10 out of the past 10 days.
Suburban Cook County’s positivity rate stayed flat at 0.6%. Currently, 22% of ICU beds are available. Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable nine out of the past 10 days in this region.
