OTTAWA — Three Chicago-area residents accused of killing a Streator woman this spring were indicted Tuesday on murder charges.

A La Salle County grand jury returned indictments against 24-year-old Hashim Waite and 21-year-old Ashanti Roberts, both of Chicago, as well as 17-year-old Tamil Adams of Dolton. Each is charged with one count of first-degree murder (base range: 20-60 years in prison) and is being held on $2 million bond.

The indictments come 84 days after Maria Delattore, 33, was fatally shot outside her Streator home during what police and prosecutors have described as a robbery. For most felony cases, 12 weeks would be a notable lag; but in this case a lengthy delay was expected, as many pieces of evidence were seized and ticketed for the crime lab.

All suspects remain scheduled for a Thursday motions hearing, with jury trials set for Aug. 27. Recent cases have gone to trial within the constitutionally-guaranteed 120 days (most notably Streator killer Carl Lenard); but Chief Judge H. Chris Ryan Jr. will readily grant continuances if the defense so requests.

Also indicted Tuesday were: John J. Miles, 39, of 1121 McMillen Ave., Aurora (three counts of burglary; theft); Brandon R. Swiskoski, 24, of 1228 Third St., La Salle (unlawful failure to register as a sex offender); Lorenzo Burnley, 37, of 547 Golf Road, Apt. 2, Streator (two counts of unlawful use of a credit card); Mariah Miller, 23, of 2127 Fourth St., upstairs apartment, Peru (two counts of unlawful use of a credit card; unlawful possession of a controlled substance); Trevor Klock, 26, of 421 E. Main St., Streator (burglary); Keyon Rowe, 26, of 806 N. Monroe St., Streator (aggravated unlawful use of a weapon); Dennis Montgomery, 26, of 208 S. Park St., Apt. 2, Streator (burglary); Larry Teamer, 38, homeless of Streator (failure to register as a sex offender); Mandy Harvey, (aka: Mandy Bottoms), 32, of 410 S. Division St., Chenoa (driving while revoked); Cortez L. Shepherd, 24, of 279 Michigan Ave., Galesburg (burglary); Victor A. Osborne, 52, of 1302 Oakmont Court, Sandwich (driving while revoked); Devonta Hunter, 22, of 353 Fifth St., La Salle (driving while revoked); Joshua Snyder, 28, of 2464 E. 29th Road, Lot 42, Seneca (burglary); Joshua M. Trahan, 36, of 1290 Porter Ave., La Salle (criminal damage to government-supported property); Rosealynn C. Daniels, 39, of 263 Bond St., Marseilles (unlawful possession of a controlled substance); Shane Ramme, 33, of 816 S. Park St., Streator (burglary, unlawful use of a credit card); William Behnke, 53, of 36 Hubbard Trail, Watseka (unlawful possession of a controlled substance).
