The twice-weekly outdoor rehearsals at Plainfield High School-Central Campus are optional for band students.

The students meet via Zoom during the day and can come to the rehearsals if they like, said band director Christopher Vanderwall.

Vanderwall and assistant director Amy Mullard work on opposite ends of the stadium with individual instrument groups including brass and woodwinds.

Members who play percussion work near the school building. Students who attend these rehearsals have their temperature taken and answer COVID-19 questions about their health before they enter the stadium.

Students must wear masks at all times unless they are playing. Percussionists must wear masks at all times. The rehearsals are scheduled through mid-October.
