High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Sept. 15

Ellie Johnson shot 41 to earn medalist honors and lead Johnsburg to a 196-199 girls golf win over Harvard in Kishwaukee River Conference play Tuesday at Chapel Hill in McHenry.

Gracie Berthoud followed with a 48 for the Skyhawks. Riley Klotz carded a 52, and Hailey Bullamore had a 55.

Joelle McMillan topped Harvard with a 46, Emma Ackland had a 47, while Julia Chupich, Alexis Lehmann and Avalyn Schneider each shot 53.

Marian Central 195, Marengo 264: At Boone Creek in Bull Valley, Lauren McNulty led the Hurricanes to a nonconference victory with a 44.

Ella Notaro followed with a 47, Ava Notaro shot 49, and Jasmine Stevens had a 55.

Cadance Leucht and Emma Leucht each shot 62 to lead Marengo.

BOYS GOLF

Johnsburg 188, Harvard 188: At Chapel Hill in McHenry, Johnsburg won their KRC dual with Harvard on a fifth-score tiebreaker by Mike Preston, who shot 51 and beat Harvard's fifth score by one stroke.

Cody Clauson and Nick Thill both shot 46 for the Skyhawks, Mike Link carded a 47, and Mason Diedrich had a 49.

For Harvard, Myles Brinks was the match's medalist with a 42. Logan Garafol shot 47, Jake Chupich had a 48, and Aaron Saucedo shot 51.

Crystal Lake South 163, McHenry 179: At Crystal Lake Country Club, Will Stewart fired a 1-over par 36 to lead the Gators to a Fox Valley Conference win.

Nate Stewart and Bryce Sturn both followed with 41s, and Spencer Shireman and Ricky Falbo each shot 45 to tie for South's fourth score.

Sam Huff led the Warriors with a 43 and was followed closely by Samwise Shaack's 44. Ethan Jensen, Max Bogenski and Brody Glauser each shot 46.

Huntley 150, Hampshire 182: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Danny Sheedy's 33 led the Red Raiders during their FVC dual win.

Cole Frederick shot 37, Graham Holmes followed with a 39, and Josh Good, Trevor Book and Andrew Toman each shot 41 for the final scoring spot.

Peyton Yee paced Hampshire with a 41, Henry Birt shot 46, Brandon Kovanda carded a 47, and Jake Greenwald and Ian Pawlak both shot 48.

Jacobs 174, Cary-Grove 179: At Foxford Hills in Cary, Jason Seaholm's 39 led the Golden Eagles to a five-shot shot win in their FVC dual against the Trojans.

Justin Cunningham shot 42, Kyle Schutt had a 46, and Ryan Frantik and Owen Ziaja each shot 47.

Maddux Tarasievich topped C-G with a 40, Nate Jablonsky carded a 44, Tom Fornelli shot 46, and Dylan Turner had a 49.

Crystal Lake Central 159, Dundee-Crown 184: At RedTail in Lakewood, Bayden Hubacher's 36 led the way for the Tigers during their FVC victory.

Eric Klutke followed with a 38, Christian Wakeford shot 42, and Jack Benoit shot 43.

Jake Russell and Josh Dulla both shot 45s for D-C, and Jason Huber had a 47.

GIRLS TENNIS

Crystal Lake Central 7, Dundee-Crown 0: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers didn't drop a set during their FVC dual win.

Ellie McGinnis (No. 1), Natalia Pickunko (No. 2) and Katie Hopkins (No. 3) each picked up wins in singles play. Haley Benard and Emma Grindstaff (No. 1), Olivia Johnson and Megan Rapisarda (No. 2), Ellyse Cruz and Lexi Holtkamp (No. 3) and Grace Cullian and Anika Richard (No. 4) all won in doubles play.

Huntley 7, Hampshire 0: At Huntley, the Red Raiders swept their FVC dual with singles wins from Ruhi Gulati (No. 1), Elaina Hibbeler (No. 2) and Allessandra Rivera (No. 3).

Michelle Barnvos and Kylie Phommasack (No. 1), Talia Duffy and Dyllan Cash (No. 2), Michelle Chan and Kareena Patel (No. 3) and Ela Hontanosas and Aera Chong (No. 4) won in doubles action.

Marian Central 5, Johnsburg 2: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes won all four doubles matches to secure the nonconference victory.

Molly Truckenbrod and Avery DiGangi (No. 1), Tess Meisner and Maggie Gillespie (No. 2), Kat Strode and Beth Noonan (No. 3) and Madelyn Denman and Maddie Miller (No. 4) all won for Marian. Selia McManus (No. 3) also won in singles play.

Grace Cittadino (No. 1) and Jillian Popovich (No. 2) had the wins for the Skyhawks.

Grayslake North 7, Woodstock 0: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks were swept in their nonconference dual.

Crystal Lake South 7, McHenry 0: At McHenry, Lizzy Sudbrook (No. 1), Evelyn Smith (No. 2) and Kate Howard (No. 3) all won at singles as the Gators defeated the Warriors in their FVC match.

Anna Chang and Jaden Appelhans won at No. 1 doubles, Christina Lin and Elena Cangelosi won at No. 2 doubles, Gracelyn Gabel and Marissa Baietto won at No. 3 doubles, and Morgan Lowery and Vrinda Brahmbhatt won at No. 4 doubles for South.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Jacobs double dual: At Algonquin, the host Golden Eagles remained unbeaten in FVC races with wins over McHenry, 22-37, and Crystal Lake South, 15-50.

Jacobs’ Andrew Doetsch and Connor Maloney finished 1-2, and Aidan DeMuth and Mitchell Ruffin were fifth and sixth, respectively.

McHenry’s Caleb Schopen and Carlos Montes took third and fourth.

Woodstock 27, Richmond-Burton 30: At Richmond, the Blue Streaks' Jacob Crown took first, and Alex Iversen was third as they grabbed a KRC dual-meet victory.

Sean Rockwell took second for R-B, while Parker Sweeney was fourth, and Tristan Rockwell was fifth.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Jacobs double dual: At Algonquin, Crystal Lake South's Bella Gonzalez won the race, while teammates Abby Machesky and Addie Frisch were third and fifth for two Gators' victories.

South beat Jacobs, 22-39, and also beat McHenry. Jacobs beat McHenry, 18-45.

Jacobs’ Kelly Carpenter was second, and Elisabeth Kania was fourth.

Richmond-Burton 24, Woodstock 32: At Richmond, Jane Wisniewski, Amanda Allport and Rose Felch took the top three spots to lead the Rockets to a KRC victory.

Woodstock’s Maggie Adams and Theresa Presisto took fourth and fifth.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Woodstock 79, Dundee-Crown 49: At Woodstock, Haley Halsall won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles to help the Blue Streaks past the Chargers in their dual meet.

Hannal Blakesly won the 200 freestyle, Izza Halsall won the 100 butterfly, and Kyla Grismer won the 200 individual medley.
