Netflix in Sandwich – streaming giant featuring towns with 'funny names'

Sandwich is getting a little brighter on the pop culture map, as streaming giant Netflix is set to feature the city in an upcoming series "Netflix Is a Joke."

The initiative is part of Netflix's new comedy brand and social channels to highlight the variety of comedies available on the streaming site, and celebrate small towns in America with "the most fun names," according to a news release.

Here are a couple things Sandwich residents should be on the lookout for:

When residents of Sandwich see a Netflix branded truck driving around, there will be a number on the back, and they can text that number for one free month of Netflix service.

Netflix also is picking up the tab for takeout orders at Brenda's Frozen Custard on Friday, with masks and social distancing guidelines followed.

Other towns Netflix is highlighting include: Hell, Michigan; Weed, California; Knockemstiff, Ohio; Climax, Georgia; No Name, Colorado; Zig Zag, Oregon; Smackover, Arkansas; and Peculiar, Missouri.
