Kingston man dead after fatal car crash on Melms Road Friday

KINGSTON - A Kingston man is dead after his car crashed into a utility pole on Melms Road shortly after midnight Friday and rolled numerous times, ejecting him from the driver's seat.

Chaz D. Tischhauser, 35, of Kingston, was pronounced dead on the scene by DeKalb County first responders after police located his Sedan after a single-vehicle crash around 12:30 a.m. Friday, according to a news release.

According to the release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Tischhauser was driving westbound on Melms Road at North State Road at a high rate of speed and did not stop at the stop sign in that intersection, at which time his car went airborne.

When the car landed on the he pavement, Tischhauser lost control of the car and struck a utility pole. The car then rolled multiple times, and Tischhauser, who deputies say was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the seat.

The crash remains under investigation.
