La Salle County coronavirus update: 14 new cases, two recoveries, 135 active cases

Fourteen additional La Salle County residents tested positive for COVID-19, according to information shared Thursday by the La Salle County Health Department.

Three male youths; a female youth; a male teen; a female in her 20s; a male in his 40s; two females in their 40s; a male in his 60s; two females in their 60s and two males in their 70s each tested positive for COVID-19.

The new cases increase the total number of confirmed cases to 378 among La Salle County residents since the beginning of the pandemic.

Two individuals who previously tested positive for COVID-19 were released from isolation, increasing that total to 225 individuals who have recovered.

There are 135 active cases in La Salle County as of Thursday. That number has increased from 63 active cases a week ago and 46 active cases two weeks ago. There have been 18 deaths from complications related to COVID-19 in La Salle County, which is roughly 0.02% of the county's population.

According to ZIP code data from the Illinois Department of Public Health website (numbers may lag a few days):

• Ottawa has three more confirmed cases since Wednesday's IDPH report, increasing its total to 68 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

• Mendota has three more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 44 cases.

• Streator has one more confirmed case, increasing its total to 31 cases.

• Peru has three more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 28 cases.

• Seneca remains at 10 cases.

• Oglesby remains at 12 cases.

• Marseilles has two more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 50 cases.

• Sheridan remains at 31 cases (19 inmates at Sheridan Correctional Center).

• Somonauk has one more confirmed case, increasing its total to 17 cases.

• Earlville has two more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 16 cases.

• La Salle has two more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 14 cases.

• Leland remains at 10 cases.
