ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies Detective Ryan Wasson and Detective Ryan Monaghan, who were assigned to the Homeland Security Investigations Task Force in January to combat large scale drug trafficking, officially received federal credentials July 7, Sheriff Ron Hain announced in a news release.
Since they began their assignment, the deputies and their canine partners seized over 1,200 pounds of illegal drugs and 11 firearms.
Hain assigned both deputies to the task force to assist with and leading criminal investigations into international drug organizations operating locally in the Kane County area, the release stated.
Wasson has been assigned on a part time basis, while Monaghan has been assigned full time.Both deputies have canine partners which proved to be great assets to the team.Task force relationships with local, state, and federal agencies is critical to intercept the flow of bulk narcotics and weapons trafficking in the Chicago land region, the release stated.
