Crane falls onto an Ottawa building

No injuries were reported

A crane near Interstate 80 in Ottawa overturned Tuesday, and the boom ended up on the roof of the Feece Oil Company on East Stevenson Road.

No operator or workers were on the scene at the time, and no injuries were reported. The building had some damage.

When firefighters arrived at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday, the crane was resting on the gas meter and near the electrical main of the building; however, no gas was leaking, according to Ottawa firefighters.

Ottawa firefighters cut the crane’s mirror, which was entangled in the meter, at Nicor’s request.

The crane was lifted and returned upright. Caution tape was placed around the building, and police stood by until the crane was lifted.
