Princeton resident upset about renaming of Darius Miller Park

PRINCETON — Princeton resident Geraldine Woodlief is displeased with Princeton Rotary Club renaming Darius Miller Park to Rotary Park.

Woodlief addressed the city council during Monday’s meeting and asked how an “organization whose motto is ‘service above self’ tossed a man’s history and commemorative park out and named it for themselves?”

“Do Lions Club, Red Cross, the Salvation Army rename places they help? Should Veterans Park be called Lions Park? There must be a more tasteful way than to put your name on a sign and renaming it for yourself,” she said. “This makes me think about the statutes that are being tossed down. Get rid of history. Is this the way we want to live? Couldn’t words like, ‘this park is taken care of by’ be used. This should be changed. Will Soldiers and Sailors Park be next?”
