Fireworks at Richardson Farm in Spring Grove set for July 4, parking for 2,000 cars available

Food trucks, musical entertainment also planned

Richardson Adventure Farm in Spring Grove will host Fourth of July fireworks, with parking space available for about 2,000 cars, the farm announced in a Facebook post Monday.

The farm, at 909 English Prairie Road, opens for parking at 6 p.m. July 4. The cost is $20 a vehicle. Only cash will be accepted.

The event is hosted in partnership with the Richmond Spring Grove Area Rotary, and the farm promises "excellent sight lines to the fireworks show."

The fireworks show is set for about 9:15 p.m.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing limitations will be in place. Attendees are encouraged to stay inside their cars or set up chairs directly in front of their vehicles. The post makes no mention of face coverings but says "Phase 4 social distancing will be in place."

No grills or personal fireworks are allowed, but coolers with food and drink are allowed.

Fifteen golf carts will drive through parking areas selling water, beer, White Claws, cheese popcorn, kettle popcorn and fresh doughnuts. There also will be five food trucks on site and porta-potties available.

Musical artists The Thompson Duo and Sweet-T will play from 6 p.m. until the start of the fireworks show.

According to the Facebook post, the village of Spring Grove is only allowing for parking on farm property. Any vehicles parked on streets may be ticketed. Donations will be taken to help cover the cost of the fireworks.

The city of Woodstock announced last month that it will host a drive-in-movie-style fireworks display July 4 at Emricson Park. McHenry also is going ahead with fireworks from two launch sites Saturday.
