About 65,000 diapers were distributed to community members in need Tuesday at a drive-thru event at Follett School Solutions in McHenry. The diaper drive was sponsored by the United Way of Greater McHenry County, Follett and the Diaper Bank of Northern Illinois.
Mask-wearing volunteers from the three organizations, plus local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, were on hand to distribute free packages of diapers ranging in size from newborn to adult.
The Diaper Bank of Northern Illinois is on target to distribute a total of 420,000 diapers to those in need in 2020.
