May 6, 2010 — Illinois Valley families of graduating college seniors might want to halt plans to turn Junior's bedroom into a home office: Their sons and daughters were likely to come back home. The economy was improving but jobs were scarce for new graduates.

May 6, 1995 — Former State Trooper Ralph Syverson was sentenced to 25 years in prison for shooting his estranged wife's lover 14 times after finding the two in her Naplate apartment.

May 6, 1970 — Paul Kramarsic, L-P's classy left-hander, continued to give the opposition "plenty of nothing." He picked up his sixth win without a loss as he turned in a four-hitter; the Cavaliers drubbed Rochelle in a game halted by the 10-run rule. He had a 0.45 ERA before the shutout. Mike Loebach entered the game with a .422 batting average and had three hits.
