Perna's Pizza building bought by local pizza restaurateur

ROCK FALLS – The former Perna's Pizza building has a new owner, and it's a familiar one in the local pizza business.

Wayne E. Wright, owner of Angelo's Pizza locations in Sterling, Rock Falls and Dixon, recently bought the longtime restaurant building at 200 W. Rock Falls Road for $90,000 from the Fedora Perna estate.

Perna's, founded by Italian-born Angelino and Fedora Perna, was in business for nearly 60 years. Their son, Guido, ran it after his parent's death; he died in 2018 and it has been closed since.

The building went up for auction twice since the business closed, but remained unsold.

The sale includes two one-bedroom apartments above the restaurant.

No word yet on what Wright's plans for the property might be.
