The Lake County Health Department reported six additional COVID-19 deaths in Lake County on Thursday.
Lake County now has 1,124 cases and 29 deaths, according to updated numbers by the LCHD, as of 4:45 p.m. Thursday. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported two fewer deaths (27) in Lake County in Thursday’s initial afternoon update.
The IDPH announced the most recent deaths in Lake County included a man in his 50s, a woman in her 80s, and two men in their 90s.
Lake County has the most cases of any county in the state outside of Cook County (4,767), according to the IDPH. Chicago has 6,648 cases.
McHenry County surpassed 200 cases and now has 206 cases and five deaths, according to updated numbers from the McHenry County Department of Health.
Kane County has 326 cases and 20 deaths, announced the Kane County Health Department. The IDPH announced a woman in her 90s was the latest death in Kane County. McHenry County had no additional deaths reported Thursday by the IDPH.
The LCHD announced on Wednesday that it is investigating 20 long-term care facilities that have two or more positive cases. The 20 facilities have a combined total of 150 cases.
In a press release Wednesday, LCHD Executive Director Mark Pfister reminded residents to continue following social distancing guidelines.
“We believe that many more residents are infected with COVID-19 who can spread this virus even if they do not have symptoms," Pfister said. "As the weather warms up, I encourage you to enjoy some fresh air and exercise for both your physical and mental health. However, we must continue to follow social distancing guidelines. We are fortunate that our Lake County Forest Preserve trails remain open at this time. Let’s all do our part to keep them open.”

The IDPH reported 1,529 new cases of coronavirus in the state and 66 deaths on Thursday. There are a total of 16,422 cases, including 528 deaths, in 81 counties in Illinois. 80,857 tests have been performed.
