CARROLLTON, Texas – A Texas man charged in the 2018 death of Rock Falls native was sentenced Friday to 30 years for his murder.
Danny Aragon-Marquez, 30, shot Randall W. “Randy” Dugger, 49, in the rental home they shared on May 29, 2018. He attempted to set the house on fire before fleeing to Mexico; he was captured a little more than a week later near the border at El Paso.
The Dallas County trial lasted 5 days.
Dugger’s body was found after an alarm company called the fire department to report a carbon monoxide leak. When they arrived, firefighters reported the smell of gasoline so powerful that they did not enter the home until it was declared safe to do so.
Dugger, a 1986 Rock Falls High School graduate, worked for Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. when he lived in Rock Falls. After moving to Texas, he was a transfer driver for U-Haul.
Among others, he is survived by his wife, Ann, sons Joshua, Justin, and Jacob, and daughter Jordan Bryan.
Carrollton is a city of about 120,000 just northwest of Dallas.
