Special Connections earns grant from Community Foundation of Grundy County

Award is 19th grant from Community Foundation of Grundy County in 2019

The Community Foundation of Grundy County has selected Special Connections of Grundy County as the 19th recipient of a $1,000 grant celebrating the CFGC’s 20th anniversary year.

Special Connections of Grundy County’s mission is to connect people with disabilities to their community through social interactions, education, recreational opportunities and shared information.

Special Connections was nominated to receive a grant in the honor of board president and co-founder Jennifer Price. According to the nominator, “Jennifer noticed a complete lack of recreational and social services for students with disabilities who have aged out of the school system. Jennifer took it upon herself to establish Special Connections, whose function came to provide a social and recreational outlet for individuals with disabilities, simultaneously creating a community for individuals sharing a common desire. Individuals with disabilities have much to contribute if only provided with an appropriate avenue to show their importance. Jennifer has assisted in establishing this avenue!”

While the CFGC is no longer taking new nominations, the organization still has one more to announce for 2019.

Anniversary Grant recipients have included Breaking Away, Morris Youth Tackle Football, Help for Hope, Grundy Area PADS, Goose Lake Prairie Partners, Angels of Hope, Loving Deeds, the Morris Hospital Auxiliary and Foundation, and the Morris Theater Guild.
