Police: New Lenox man sent nude photos to girls, tried to solicit photos from them

A New Lenox man previously charged with attempting to sexually assault a 38-year-old woman on Old Plank Road Trail in Frankfort was charged with sending inappropriate photos to two minors, police said.

On Saturday, 19-year-old Anthony M. Carbone was arrested and booked into the Will County jail on charges of indecent solicitation of a minor, grooming, distribution of explicit materials to a minor and sexual exploitation of a child.

Mokena Police Chief Steven Vaccaro said Carbone sent inappropriate photos, such as a photo of his genitals, to two teenage girls through social media apps such as Snapchat and Instagram, and also solicited the girls to send him inappropriate photos.

“He would strike up a conversation and solicit pictures and send them pictures,” Vaccaro said.

Vaccaro said Mokena police were contacted by one of the teenage girls’ parents about Carbone on Nov. 18. He said Carbone attempted to meet one of the girls through a social media app.

Carbone was arrested June 9 after a woman accused him of attempting to sexually assault her on Old Plank Road Trail in Frankfort, according to court records.

The woman petitioned for a protective order against Carbone that alleged he hit her on the back and tackled her while she was on the trail.

She was able to get away from Carbone and contacted police, according to the petition.

According to the petition, a responding officer told the woman that Carbone admitted that he was going to mug her, sexually assault her and “pull [her] in the bushes.”
