A 24-year-old Lake in the Hills woman accused of possessing heroin while she was out on conditional discharge for an unrelated drug conviction was sentenced to prison Wednesday.
Michelle M. Cappello, who also goes by Michelle Hall, was sentenced to 4½ years in prison after admitting that she violated the terms of a separate 2017 sentence. At the time, she was ordered to serve one year and 11 months of conditional discharge and two years of probation for delivering heroin near Echo Park in Lake in the Hills, court records show. Conditional discharge is a criminal sentence that doesn't include jail or prison time, but requires defendants to comply with certain conditions.
Cappello, of the 400 block of Starwood Pass, also accepted an offer from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. The charge stems from a June 19 incident during which police said they found Cappello in possession of multiple bags of heroin, according to the release.
Cappello has been in the McHenry County Jail on $200,000 bond since June 19, records show.
