Update: Woman injured at Power Packaging was temporary agency worker

Worker was flown to Level 1 trauma center

GENEVA – The worker injured at Power Packaging, 2089 Pillsbury Drive, Geneva, Friday morning was a temporary agency worker, according to a statement from a company spokeswoman.

"Safety is a priority at all of the Power Packaging facilities and we are currently focused on investigating this incident," according to a statement from spokeswoman Nicole Porter.

Geneva Fire Department responded to a call of an employee trapped in a machine at 6:28 a.m., officials announced in a news release.
 
Plant personnel informed arriving firefighters that a woman had been trapped in a conveyor belt assembly. The company's maintenance staff was successful in disassembling the machine and removing the woman prior to the arrival of the responders, the release stated.
 
The employee was treated at the scene by the Geneva paramedics and transferred to a medical helicopter, which transported the woman to an area Level 1 trauma center for further treatment.

There is no additional information on the patient's condition or extent of her injuries.
 
The Geneva Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the St. Charles Fire Department and the Geneva Police Department.

Power Packaging does contract manufacturing of dry food and aseptic beverages, such as pouches, cartons and specialty containers for beverage mixes, breakfast cereals, coffee, teas and powdered beverages, according to its website, powerpackaging.com.

Power Packaging is a DHL company, part of the Deutsche Post DHL Group, which also provides design engineering, development of operations and supply chain, plant management, operations and freight transport, according to the website.
