Firefighters extinguish blaze at Wooded Creek home in Joliet, no injuries reported

Firefighters extinguished a fire in the first-floor living room of a home in the Wooded Creek subdivision near Black Road, a Joliet fire official said.

No one was injured in the incident, Joliet Deputy Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said.

About 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters received a report of a fire that occurred at 606 Rookery Court in the Wooded Creek subdivision, Blaskey said.

A teen returned home from baseball practice and encountered smoke when he stepped inside, Blaskey said, then retrieved both his dogs and called 911.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 5:30 p.m., he said. The cause of fire has not yet been determined, he said.
