Police: Channahon man dies after he lost control of a pickup truck, struck a tree

A 21-year-old Channahon man died Saturday night after he lost control of his vehicle, drove into a ditch and struck a tree, police said.

Jason D. Frost was pronounced dead at 6:05 p.m. Saturday in the 24000 block of West Front Street in Channahon, according to a news release from the Will County Coroner’s Office. He was involved in a single-vehicle crash. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Will County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 4:37 p.m. to the scene of the crash, spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said. Frost was freed from a 1997 Ford pickup truck in a tree line on the north side of Front Street, she said.

Hoffmeyer said initial reports indicate Frost was traveling east when he lost control and went into the north ditch and struck a tree. She said there were no witnesses to the incident.

She said the crash remains under investigation.
