Lewis University president visits Easterseals Joliet

In recognition of Easterseals collaborative partnership with Lewis University, David Livingston, president, toured the Regional Pediatric Center in Joliet.

Easterseals Board Member and Lewis Trustee, Pamela Mott and Easterseals President CEO Deb Condotti greeted Livingston and provided a tour of the Center’s facilities while discussing the development and implementation of advanced degree programs at Lewis to include occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.

Easterseals Joliet Region will be accepting clinical student rotations in the Masters of Occupational Therapy program.

OT students from Lewis were interviewed on the Spring Easterseals Celebration of Giving Telethon and presented a contribution of $800 from proceeds of a fundraiser.

Megan Eads, Easterseals staff member, was selected as an instructor for the Lewis program.

Another recent project was completed by marketing students under the instruction of Brie Brubaker.

Two student teams competed on developing a Campaign to highlight Easterseals unique role of providing Child Care to children of all abilities.

Visits to the program, with accompanying photography, promoted a creative visual display with recommendations on communication opportunities to target audiences. The quality of their final product was every bit as competitive as a professional advertising company!

Other Lewis-Easterseals projects include a regular rotation of nursing students under the direction of Anne McShane. Student nurses bring practical interactive family activities, observe pediatric services, and learn about disability etiquette in the health care environment.

In addition, Lewis students, under the direction of Robert Bergman, completed a campus study of Easterseals name recognition, which resulted in the development of a Young Professional Associate Board concept.

Easterseals is a national affiliated network of direct service to children and adults with disabilities.

Locally, Easterseals provides early intervention, child care, home-visiting to families of young children, foster-adoptive services, autism diagnostics and wrap-around services, residential housing and supports for adults with developmental disabilities, and advocacy/awareness public campaign
