Sandwich man killed in rollover crash; driver facing DUI, other charges

A Sandwich man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash at 9:02 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, on Suydam Road east of Somonauk Road near Somonauk, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

Police identified the victim as Bradley A. Baumann, 44, of Sandwich.

Police said Baumann was a passenger in a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Autumn M. Jensen, 21, of Plano.

Jensen, who was treated for minor injuries at the crash site, has been charged with aggravated DUI, reckless homicide, improper lane usage and using an electronic device while driving, according to police.

Police said the crash occurred when Jensen, who was driving eastbound on Suydam Road, drove off the roadway, causing the Tahoe to rollover.

Baumann, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital in Sandwich where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Jensen was transported to the DeKalb County Jail in Sycamore pending court proceedings.

The sheriff's office and DeKalb County Coroner's Office are continuing their investigation into the crash.
