Joliet Marine takes part in annual exercise

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Andrew Black was part of maritime prepositioning force (MPF) offload for Exercise Balikatan on March 22 at Subic Bay International Airport, Republic of the Philippines.

MPF offloads provide the Marines Corps the ability to distribute equipment and assets to service members in deployed environments through the Indo-Pacific region at a moment’s notice.

Balikatan is a Tagalog phrase that means “shoulder-to-shoulder” and is an annual exercise between the U.S. military and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Black, motor transportation operator with Motor Transportation Company, 3rd Transportation Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, is a native of Juliet.
