Minnesota man charged with sexual assault at Pheasant Run Resort

Incident allegedly happened between July 27 and July 28, 2018

ST. CHARLES – A DuPage County judge on Jan. 23 increased the bond for a Minnesota man charged with sexual assault during an incident last July at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.

Patrick W. Beech, 20, of the 2400 block of Wildwood Ridge in Red Wing, is charged with several counts of criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse. The alleged acts happened between July 27 and July 28, 2018. Beech and the alleged victim are both from Minnesota.

"The report initiated in Minnesota and we were notified by a local law enforcement agency in that state," St. Charles Police Department Deputy Police Chief Erik Mahan said in an email. "Our investigators then worked collaboratively with investigators from that agency."

During a court hearing on Jan. 23, DuPage County Judge George Bakalis increased Beech's bond from $10,000 to $50,000 – with 10 percent to apply – and ordered him to provide a saliva sample. In addition, he said Beech can continue to live in Minnesota while the case continues and allowed him to travel to the Cayman Islands in early March.

Upon his return, Beech must surrender his passport to the St. Charles Police Department, according to Bakalis' order. After posting 10 percent of the bond, he was released from the DuPage County Jail on Jan. 23.

His arraignment is set for March 18.
