Young woman found dead inside car at Lockport Walmart

Autopsy needed to determine cause of death

The body of a 24-year-old woman was found inside a 2005 Lexus SUV in the employee parking lot of a Walmart in Lockport, police said.

At 4:28 p.m. Tuesday, Lockport police were called to the store, located at 16241 Farrell Road, after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman found in the back seat of a car, Lockport Deputy Police Chief Ron Huff said.

When the officers arrived, they found the woman had “no obvious signs of life,” Huff said. She appeared to have been in the car for awhile, but police are uncertain as to exactly how long she was there before being found, he said.

“We can’t guess yet at the cause of death,” Huff said.

Her body had no signs of trauma, he said. The Will County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy Wednesday to get more answers about what might have caused the woman’s death.

Huff said because of the way her body was positioned in the vehicle, it would not have been obvious she was in the car.
