New Jimmy John's opens in Plainfield

PLAINFIELD – A new Jimmy John’s sandwich shop opened Tuesday in Plainfield.

“This has been a dream of ours for 10 years, and our team is beyond excited to serve our community with fresh, fast and tasty sandwiches,” owners Melody and Greg Balicki said in a news release.

The couple said they plan to hire 30 employees for the shop at 15420 S. Route 59.

Jimmy John Liautaud founded the company in 1983 in Charleston, Illinois. Since then, Jimmy John’s has built its reputation on serving up fast and fresh sandwiches in communities across the country, and it is one of the fastest growing franchises in the U.S., with more than 2,700 Jimmy John’s locations across 43 states, the release stated.

The Jimmy John’s in Plainfield will deliver sandwiches if customers are inside the delivery area. It also offers catering for any occasion.
