Charles Copley Roofing plans celebrations for 50-year milestone

Roofing contractor will reduce Saturday office hours to plan for events

A celebration will begin with the spring season at Charles Copley Roofing as the company honors its 50th business anniversary.

The city of Crystal Lake will be recognizing this milestone at the City Council meeting held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. Supporters are welcome to attend. Charles J. Copley, founder, Renee Copley, owner, and Michael Lesko, operations manager, will be accepting an honorary plaque on behalf of Charles Copley Roofing Inc.

The staff of Copley Roofing has been invited to attend and participate in a full company photo.

“We have only made it this far because of the people that are a part of this company,” Charles J. Copley said.

On May 7, the business will end the day early to host a pig roast for staff, their families, business partners and valued customers. The event will feature games, raffles, good eats and great company. Participants even might see preliminary construction of a destined champion cardboard boat due to set sail this summer in America’s Cardboard Cup Regatta.

Copley Roofing and company will be gathering July 28 at Main Beach in Crystal Lake to cheer on their cardboard boat crew as they aim to take the cup.

“Fifty years of experience in waterproofing will certainly add to our advantage,” said Chris Ethridge, job coordinator.

The Copley standard will be implemented as the design committee – made up of Charles R. Copley, Ethridge and Mathew Orlick of Charles Copley Roofing Inc. – plans to create a show-stopper as triumphant as its celebrated milestone.

The office’s Saturday hours will be reduced this season as the company prepares for these celebratory events. The Copley office will remain open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month to serve its patrons.
