DIXON – After nearly 20 years downtown, the Super Dollar Store is closing.

“The numbers are just not there,” said Sherrie Rosauer, adding that sales have been declining for the past 8 years.

She and her brother, John Rosauer, both of Belvidere, opened at 207 W. First St. 18 years ago. They have four employees.

The building is for sale, and all merchandise is 20 percent off, she said, adding that she could have moved the inventory to their other locations, but she prefers not to as long as people are walking through the door.

The two, who own Rosauer Ventures Inc., also are closing the Super Dollar Store in North Towne Mall, at 986 W. Riverside Blvd. in Rockford, and at 146 S. Main St. in Maquoketa, Iowa.
