One person was injured in a fire that extensively damaged a single-family home in Oswego's Lakeview Estates subdivision Tuesday, Aug. 1.

According to Oswego police, officers were initially summoned to the residence in the 200 block of Dorchester Court just south of Route 71 on a report of a domestic dispute at 7:10 p.m. Upon arrival, police said officers found the residence on fire and summoned the Oswego Fire Protection District to the scene.

Police said firefighters extinguished the blaze and one person was taken to a local hospital for what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire heavily damaged an attached garage and two vehicles that were parked inside. The fire district estimated the damage to the home and its contents at $400,000.

Assistant Fire Chief John Cornish reported Wednesday morning that no firefighters were injured while fighting the blaze. Firefighters remained on the scene until shortly after midnight.

The fire district and police are currently investigating the cause of the fire, Cornish said.

Assisting the fire district during the blaze were personnel and equipment from the Montgomery Countryside and Plainfield fire protection districts, Cornish said.
