PRINCETON — Flowers and home decor have been such a big part in Shelley Monier’s life that she has opened a store in Princeton highlighting those interests.
“We have a mix of floral, few antiques, seasonal decorations and home decor.” she said about her store called Meadows Home and Decor, located at 501 S. Main St., Princeton. “We can do custom silk floral designs, funeral arrangements, prom and homecoming arrangements using silk flowers.”
Monier worked part-time at a floral shop, but then had an opportunity to open in this building in Princeton, one of the oldest in town and in a good location.
Monier has picked up some antiques to display around the store.
She has an old cabinet that came from Barb LaVelle’s home, a store countertop from the Van Orin Grocery Store, a harvest table built in Hennepin to feed farm help, an old washing machine from her aunt, a paper safe from the LaMoille bank and handmade cake stands from the state of Ohio.
Monier said she adds new items on a daily basis. She stocks Winds and Willow Dips, 1803 candles and lots of farm-related items and pieces from her husband's machine shed.
She has fresh coffee and iced tea every day for customers. Her fall and holiday sections later this year will be great, she promises.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. When there are special events being held in Princeton, the store will be open during the evenings.
