ORLAND PARK – Lockport swept the relays Saturday en route to winning the Sandburg Sectional Girls Swimming Meet.
The Porters finished with 303 points to 269 for runnerup Sandburg. Joliet West was seventh in the 11-team field with 57.
Lockport won the 200 medley relay in 1:48.75 (Brittney O'Neill, Oliwia Wolek, Lindsey Merk, Lauren Estes); the 200 free relay in 1:38.47 (O'Neill, Makayla Kraus, Emily Johnson, Estes), and the 400 free relay in 3:35.67 (Merk, Wolek, Johnson, Estes). All winners and anyone else bettering the predetermined qualifying times advance to next weekend's state meet.
Johnson won the 200 free in 1:55.16 and Merk the 100 fly in 55.2 and the 100 back in 56.83. Other Porters advancing are Wolek, second in the 200 IM in 2:08.85; Kamryn Fields in diving, fourth with 372.65 points, and Wolek, second in the 100 fly in 57.84.
OTHER SECTIONALS
Lincoln-Way Central: Lincoln-Way East won with 292, Lincoln-Way Central was second with 241, Lincoln-Way West fourth with 186 and Morris fifth with 118 in the 15-team field.
Winning relays were East in the 200 medley in 1:48.04 (Michaela Mitchell, Cailin Merck, Makayla Vargam Reis Parkinson), Central in 200 free in 1:39.28 (Constance Senese, Kiera Bulger, Julia Signorelli, Madi Jager), and Central in the 400 free in 3:38.54 (Senese, Bulger, Signorelli, Jager).
Mitchell won the 200 free in 1:58.97 and 100 back in 57.90, Senese the 200 IM in 2:07.75 and 100 breast in 1:05.65, West's Caitlyn Schreiber the 50 free in 23.81 and 100 free in 52.08, East Sara Henessy in diving with 362.55 points. Also advancing were Jager, second in the 50 free in 24.37, East's Alyssa Rudskinski in diving with 333.20 points and Merck in the 100 breast in 1:06.46.
Metea Valley: The Plainfield North Co-op was fifth among 14 teams with 116 points. Lemont was 11th with 27.
Jessica Davis had the top finishes for North as she was third in the 200 free in 1:51.47 and fourth in the 100 free in 51.98.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
St. Francis 3, Trinity Christian 2: The Fighting Saints (29-11) earned a trip to the NAIA Tournament after advancing to the finals of the CCAC Tournament.USF was led by Alyssa Bridleman (16 kills), Jessica Karalow (12 kills, five blocks), Brooke Hartnell (12 kills, 17 digs), Amber Casey (26 assists), Danielle Conrad (27 assists) and Leah Alles (26 digs).
Lewis 3, Indianapolis 0: The No. 15 Flyers (23-6, 16-1) had a school-record .480 hitting percentage, breaking a record that stood for 10 years. Lewis was led by Aly Schneider (10 kills), Maddie Seliga (10 kills), Abby Becker (29 assists) and Nicole Yuede (13 digs).
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Lewis 78, Walsh 76 (OT): Jamie Johnson scored 27 of her 29 points in the final 25 minutes as the Flyers rallied from a nine-point deficit in their opener. Jessica Kelliher added 18 points and seven rebounds, Kayla Brewer had nine points and Gabby Green added 10 assists.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
JJC 86, Prairie State 76: The No. 9 Wolves (3-0) were led by Mitch Kwasigroch (27 points, six rebounds), Jarret Gmazel (20 points, four assists), Rob Blissett (12 points), Richie Elias (eight assists), Johnny Campbell (seven rebounds) and Kaveon Rogers (seven points).
