New Lenox Fire Protection District responds to Mokena structure fire

MOKENA – A structure fire significantly damaged a Mokena home.

The New Lenox Fire Protection District was called at 2:16 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a structure fire in the 13000 block of West 184th Place in Mokena. Upon arrival firefighters found the two-story home fully involved, according to a news release from the district. No injuries were reported and all residents were able to get out of the home safely.

The fire took about 90 minutes to put out, district Public Information Officer Marisa Schrieber said.

There is significant damage to the home and total cost of damage in not yet available, according to the district. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The NLFPD was assisted in the fire by officials from Manhattan, Frankfort, Mokena, Homer, Lockport, Northwest Homer, East Joliet and Kurtz. Other area fire departments also covered New Lenox during this time for any additional emergency calls.
