Face Time with Diane Markowski

Elgin resident Diane Markowski, 60, was working at St. Charles East High School when she answered questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Ashley Sloboda.

Where did you grow up? Des Plaines

What’s your title at East? Dean’s assistant

How long have you worked here? Ten years

Is there anything specific you like about it? The kids make you stay young.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a police officer.

Do you have pets? Yes, a Peagle, which is a cross between a Pekingese and a beagle. His name is Wrigley. I had Clark and Addison but they passed away. They were Puggles.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? El Molcajete in Geneva

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Mint-chocolate chip

Do you have a book or TV show you’d recommend? “Friction,” a book, and the TV show “The Middle.”

What's your favorite fall activity? I like to go to Fall Diddley. That's a craft show in Belvidere.

Do you have any hobbies? I like my dog and I like to work.

Do you have a favorite place to go on vacation? Disney World

Do you have a favorite park within Disney World? I actually like the Disney cruise. I’ve been there [Disney World] 62 times, not including Disneyland or the cruise.

What’s an interesting factoid about yourself? I was hit by lightning and survived.
