I’m sending you some pics as to why I’m writing you. I’ve tried contacting Sterling Park District, but no one answers the phone there.
The past few months I’ve noticed when I take my wife to work, the U.S. flag at Sterling-Rock Falls Day Care Center is very weathered and torn. Myself, I feel, coming from a family of veterans and as a member of one of our local veterans’ groups, it’s time to say “I’m offended by the looks of this flag.”
I’ve been told that it’s up to the Sterling Park District to take care of this. I’ve tried to call, and my phone call goes unanswered.
We have a local organization here in our community, Sterling-Rock Falls Association of Clubs, that will repair a flag and pay for this repair. There is no reason for any organization or city group to let any flag get in such disrepair.
If you need your flag repaired, you may call me at 815-441-0953. If you need me to pick it up, I will even do that for you to keep our flags respectful.
If they need a volunteer or a group of volunteers to keep up with making sure our flags are properly taken care of, I would be more than happy to volunteer and put together a group to take care of such flags. Thank you.
Note to readers: Brad Popejoy Sr. is past president of the Sterling-Rock Falls Association of Clubs.
