SYCAMORE – A DeKalb man was sentenced to 50 years in state prison Friday after admitting he sexually assaulted a six-year-old family member in 2013 and documented it.
Robert E. Aldape, 28, formerly of the 700 block of Kimberly Drive in DeKalb, pleaded guilty to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and three counts of possession of child pornography. DeKalb County Presiding Judge Robbin Stuckert sentenced him to 10 years for each count.
The sentences must be served consecutively, and under Illinois’ Truth in Sentencing Law, Aldape must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence.
Aldape was accused of having sexual contact with a family member since the victim was 3 years old.
Despite 2014 plans to plead not guilty, Aldape pleaded guilty to photographing the abuse on at least two occasions and videotaping the abuse at least one time between Jan. 1, 2011, and Dec. 13, 2013, court records show.
Aldape will be transferred to Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill.
