Sky Trek Tower at Six Flags Great America to remain closed indefinitely after being stuck

GURNEE (AP) — A spokeswoman for Six Flags Great America says its Sky Trek Tower ride will remain closed indefinitely after it came to a stop and riders needed to be escorted down a staircase.

Spokeswoman Katy Enrique says it took about two hours for all of the riders to be escorted down at the Gurnee amusement park Sunday. She says no one was injured.

Enrique says the ride will remain closed for an inspection before reopening.

The park's website describes the Sky Trek tower as a rotating cabin offering riders a view from 28½ stories in the air. It opened in 1977.

Information about how high the cabin was when it came to a stop or the number of riders aboard wasn't available. The ride can accommodate 70 guests at a time.
