WILOWBROOK – With just about two weeks left before community members and residents around the area cast their vote, candidate Bruce Rauner spent an evening speaking with customers and Willowbrook Mayor Frank Trilla about his plan for Illinois.
Bruce Rauner, who’s running for Governor of Illinois, said his Oct. 15 visit to Westmont’s Papa Passero’s was just about spreading the campaign’s message.
“I’m going to work closely with the mayors all over the state,” Rauner said. “To help them get a better business climate, [increase] jobs, help reduce tax burden on our families and invest in schools.”
Rauner said he’s a business person running for governor because he loved Illinois and wants to see a change in Springfield.
Echoing him, Willowbrook Mayor Frank Trilla said there could be an opportunity here with Rauner in the government.
“Government needs to be run like a business,” Trilla said. “Rauner will be more fiscally conservative, bring a great community sense and fiscal approach to government.”
Looking ahead, the next main goal is to simply get the people to cast their votes, according to Rauner.
“It’s all about reminding voters to come out,” Rauner said. “We need everyone to get out and vote. Democracy doesn’t work unless voters get out and the reality is many voters don’t vote if it’s not the presidential election.”
Although it’s the race for governor, Rauner said it’s still important because it can affect the people’s taxes, jobs and schools.
