LOMBARD – Anthony Bartolotte flew to Puerto Rico this summer on a quest to find his true love.

The results of that journey will be viewed by millions on the MTV reality show "Are you the one?" season two, which premieres at 9 p.m. Monday.

“I thought it would be interesting to find someone to settle down with,” said the 22-year-old Lombard resident. “My experience was incredible. I’ll remember it and cherish it for the rest of my life.”

Bartolotte, who's currently in his last year at Eastern Illinois University, said it took a while to get used to being in front of the cameras and knowing everything he said would be on record. He admitted there were moments in which being intoxicated might have impaired his judgment, but he still remembers everything that happened.

“A bunch of young guys and girls in a house with alcohol – there’s going to be fireworks,” said Bartolotte, a 2010 Glenbard East High School graduate. “It’s going to be entertaining to watch.”

Bartolotte said he has a lot of personality to offer the show and that he’s been “pretty good with the ladies” in the past. He plans on watching the premiere with his fraternity brothers at school in Charleston.

“All my buddies are more than excited to see me on there. They think it’s something I’m fit for,” Bartolotte said. “They know I’m going to go out there and be entertaining for everybody. They’re very supportive and just as excited as I am.”

Even though he can’t reveal too many details about the show before its Monday premiere, Bartolotte did say this would be a great season filled with drama. He added his parents have been nothing but supportive with him participating in the reality show.

“My parents are really cool. It never crossed my mind with them seeing me on TV,” Bartolotte said.

This season’s show features 21 contestants, 11 woman and 10 men. A million dollars will be split between all matched couples.

“I’m hoping he wins the money so he can pay off his student loans,” said Bartolotte’s mom, Barbara. “For him to get the money and his love would be totally lucky. Having a daughter-in-law wouldn’t’t be so bad either.”

Barbara Bartolotte, who works as an administrative coordinator at the Lombard Police Department, said she’s excited for her son and that he’s always the life of the party wherever he is.

“I was sure he would come home and tell me what happened and he said ‘No, you gotta watch the show,’” she said. “He’s never had a girlfriend for longer than a week. That shows you how picky he is.”

Bartolotte’s dad, Rob, said he’s nervous about seeing how his son behaved and will be portrayed on TV. He acknowledged his son’s ability to meet girls but said he has struggled with long-term relationships.

“I think he’s young. I don’t think he knows what he wants yet,” Rob Bartolotte said. “I hope he found his match.”

Anthony Bartolotte said the show allowed him to build relationships with 20 strangers who eventually became like family to him. The experience has created opportunities that he previously didn’t think were obtainable.

“If all goes well, this won’t be the last time you’ll see me on TV,” he said.
