Graduation Celebration

Seventeen students graduate with Class of 2013

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2013 of Immaculate Conception School was held during a 7 p.m. Liturgy on Thursday, May 23.

The graduates processed into the church to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” played by Mr. Brent Mitchell.

Daniel Black led his classmates, carrying a standard that was decorated in the school colors of blue and gold. Fr. Ed Howe, CR, was the celebrant at the Mass.

Nina Funk presented the first reading, and Megan Davy read the second reading.  The intercessions were read by Veronica Johnson, Sarah Neuhalfen, Amanda Pelnarsh and McKenzie Rodgers.

Gift-bearers at the presentation were Ryan Friend, Sarah Virgo, Michael Feeney, Jake Hulbert and Keagan Sobol.

Principal Kim DesLauriers presented the graduates to those present and Fr. Howe awarded them their diplomas. Chris Danek, president of the ICS school board, assisted him.

Ken Buck, representative of American Legion Post 294, presented the American Legion Awards to Megan Davy and Ethan Frobish.

DesLauriers presented American Citizenship Awards to Ryan Friend, Jake Hulbert and Keagan Sobol. Megan Davy, Ethan Frobish, Sarah Neuhalfen,and McKenzie Rodgers received the President’s Education Award for having maintained at least a 3.5 GPA and scoring in the 90th percentile on standardized tests their seventh and eighth grade years.

Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics certificates were presented to those with the highest math average in each of the two math groups.

Daniel Black received it for the pre-algebra group and McKenzie Rodgers for the algebra group. The President’s Physical Fitness Award was presented to Megan Davy, Michael Feeney and Sarah Virgo.

DesLauriers acknowledged the members of the class who had been on the honor roll. In his remarks, DesLauriers recognized the eight families of the class of 2013 who will no longer have a child attending Immaculate Conception school.

The cross bearer for the mass was Mr. DesLauriers. Servers were Meg Gile, Eli Davy and Macy Rodgers.

Ushers were Ellie Frobish, Will Hornsby and Ben Virgo. They are brothers and sisters of members of the graduating class.

Cantor for the Mass was Maren Bashor, an ICS alumnus.

Member of the ICS Class of 2012 are Daniel August Black, Megan Marie Davy, Michael Ryan Feeney, Ryan Leigh Friend, Ethan Murphy Frobish, Nina Kathleen Funk, Eli Joseph Gile, Seth Andrew Hornsby, Jake Gene Hulbert, Veronica Ray Johnson, Madeline Marie Meyer, Sarah Lynne Neuhalfen, Amanda Ann Pelnarsh, McKenzie Rae Rodgers, Keagan James Sobol, Sarah Evelyn Virgo and Aurora Michelle Whitmarsh.
