DeKALB – A 27-year-old DeKalb man accused of videotaping an acquaintance while he raped her remained in DeKalb County jail Monday unable to post $25,000.
Matthew J. Rogers, of the 200 block of West Deerpath Lane, was charged Friday with criminal sexual assault, unlawful restraint and eavesdropping. His bond was set at $250,000 Saturday, which requires posting 10 percent while the case is pending.
He is next due in court today.
Rogers invited a woman he had known for about a year into his bedroom March 30, but when she stood up to leave, he pushed her on the bed, held her down and had sex with her while she repeatedly asked him to stop, DeKalb police detective Lt. Bob Redel said. The incident happened midafternoon, and the police were called the next day after the woman went to the hospital, Redel said.
When police interviewed Rogers on Friday, he told police he recorded the encounter without the woman's knowledge. The video includes the woman's voice and shows him pushing and holding her down, Redel said.
There was no indication Rogers was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the encouter, Redel said. Rogers was sentenced to 18 months of court supervision Feb. 14 for drunken driving in November, court records show. As part of his sentence, he was ordered to complete drug and alcohol treatment.
Meanwhile, DeKalb police are continuing to investigate Rogers.
"We're going to get a search warrant for his laptop," Redel said. "We've been told there may be another victim out there."
