WHAT TO WATCH With David Cohn scoring loads of points and the big men, Justin Kurash and Frank Toohey, dominating the boards, York is looking like one of the strongest teams in the area. The Dukes are 5-1, with the lone loss coming at Benet in a close game, and are the favorite in the West Suburban Silver.
York has a big weekend coming up with conference games against Glenbard West and Hinsdale Central. Their final warm-up before hosting the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic will be a Dec. 21 game against a strong Naperville North team.
The Tosh field has trimmed to 12 teams this year with four pools of three teams each and a crossover game seeding teams to determine the final days' matchups. York plays UIC Prep and Palatine in pool play and will play two placement games on day four.
Glenbard East
TOURNAMENT Proviso West Holiday Tournament
LOCATION Proviso West High School, 4701 Harrison St., Hillside

WHAT TO WATCH Thanks to a number of talented guards and some size inside, the Rams are looking like a true contender in the DuPage Valley Conference. Tahron Harvey, Marvin Grant-Clark and JaRon Hall have given the opposition fits en route to a 5-1 start.
The Rams are one of the new additions at Proviso West in the new 32-team field. East made one previous tournament appearance in 1962.
First-round opponent Glenbrook North was expected to be a strong team this year with 6-foot-8 Davidson commit Andrew McAuliffe leading the way, but the Spartans are just 4-4.

FIRST GAME 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26 vs. Northside Prep
WHAT TO WATCH The Knights are off to a 6-2 start led by Demetrius Carr and Clark Brinkman. After losing in the final of the Westminster Christian Thanksgiving Tournament, they will be hoping for a title as co-hosts of the Christmas tournament.
IC opens against Northside Prep, but also faces Latin and Evergreen Park in pool play. All of the Knights' pool play games will be at home before heading to Westmont for the placement game on Dec. 29.
Last year, the Knights beat the same teams in pool play and swept away the tournament to take the title. That team finished 2011 undefeated.

TOURNAMENT Glenbard West Holiday Classic
LOCATION Glenbard West High School, 670 Crescent Blvd., Glen Ellyn
FIRST GAME 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26 vs. Hubbard

The Trojans open up against Hubbard and will face Leyden and St. Francis later in pool play. All of these games appear winnable on paper so Timothy will be hoping to build some momentum for the second half of its season.
The eight-team tournament gives teams four games in five days.
Addison Trail

LOCATION Romeoville High School, 100 N. Independence Blvd., Romeoville
FIRST GAME Wednesday, Dec. 26
WHAT TO WATCH The Blazers got off to a rocky start to the season, but back-to-back wins over Leyden and St. Laurence have boosted Addison Trail's record to 3-5.
Junior guard James Pupillo runs the show. He will get a chance to showcase his talents at the second-year Romeoville tournament. Expect teams to try to collapse on Pupillo. His ability to find open teammates or get out of trouble is key for Addison Trail.
Montini
TOURNAMENT Duster Thomas Hoops Classic
LOCATION Pinckneyville Community High School, 600 E. Water St., Pinckneyville
FIRST GAME 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28 vs. DuQuoin
WHAT TO WATCH Many coaches will say they like tournaments because they face unfamiliar opposition. Montini takes that to the extreme by heading south to Pinckneyville, a town 70 miles southeast of St. Louis.
The host Panthers are a small-class powerhouse with three state titles to their name, most recently in 2001.
The Broncos will cram in a lot of basketball into the two-day tournament. Montini will play two games on each day, with pool play games against DuQuion and Lawrenceville before two placement games.
