WALNUT – Starla R. Dienslake, 52, of Walnut, passed away on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford.
She was born Sept. 26, 1959, in Dixon, the daughter of Melvin and Beverly (Kinn) Haefner. She graduated from Amboy High School in 1977 and was a member of Walnut United Methodist Church. She loved taking pictures of her kids and grandkids. She worked at Culver’s in Princeton for 8 years. Starla loved her dogs Zoe and Mya.
Survivors include her father, Melvin; two daughters, Courtney (Robert) Toland of Coal Valley and Jamie (Andrew) Sloan of Sun Prairie, Wis.; one son, Eric Dienslake of Walnut; 10 grandchildren; fiancé, Judd Rutledge of Walnut; two sisters, Pam (Gene) Gascoigne of Lombard and Kim (Shawn) VonHolten of Milledgeville; sister-in-law, JoAnn Haefner of Milledgeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; one brother, Rick; and her grandparents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walnut United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gale T. Brandner, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
