ST. CHARLES – When former Beach Boys member Brian Wilson plays Saturday at his sold-out show at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, he is sure to perform songs from his 1998 album, "Imagination."

What many might not know is that the majority of the album was recorded at Wilson's former house on Dover Hill Road in unincorporated St. Charles, which is up for sale for $1.49 million.

Coldwell Banker Realtor Betty Theisen-Placek said Wilson dug the basement out an extra 7 feet deep so there would be room for the three recording rooms and a mixing room.

Wilson sold the house in 2001 to the current owner who lives in Russia. The house is currently being rented out, Theisen-Placek said.

The house in Crane Road Estates subdivision also features nine fireplaces and five bedrooms. Theisen-Placek said several celebrities have stayed in the house overnight, including Paul McCartney, Sean Lennon and Joe Walsh of The Eagles.

Music producer Joe Thomas, who worked with Wilson on "Imagination," lives next door to the house. Wilson will be staying at Thomas' house while he is town, she said.

Theisen-Placek said she grew up listening to the Beach Boys and will be attending Saturday's show.

"I've had my tickets for some time," she said. "It should be a fun night."

She hopes that Wilson performs "Little Surfer Girl" and "Good Vibrations," two of her favorite Beach Boys songs. Theisen-Placek also had the opportunity to meet Wilson's wife, Melinda.

"She's very nice," she said. "She's very down to earth."
