Kids Hope United becomes One Hope United

LAKE COUNTY JOURNAL

LAKE VILLA – Kids Hope United, the Lake Villa-based nonprofit organization, has changed its name to One Hope United.

"For more than 100 years, our staff and board members have been dedicated to one cause: bringing hope of a safe and nurturing home for children," One Hope United president/CEO Bill Gillis said in a release. "Our new name captures this dedication, with each word carrying great meaning."

The organization was founded as Chicago Baptist Orphanage in 1895 and Hudelson Baptist Children's Home in 1903. It has expanded its service array since its early beginnings as two orphanages, with services falling into six program categories including child abuse prevention services, early childhood development, counseling services, family preservation services, youth services and placement services (foster care, adoption and residential treatment).

"This name better conveys our commitment to collaborating with communities to achieve results through a growing array of services, including advocacy for teenagers and young adults, mental health services for families, child development services and volunteer programs for seniors," Gillis said in a release.

With principal offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri and Florida, the organization serves nearly 15,000 children and families each year. Visit www.onehopeunited.org for more information.
