BRACEVILLE — Mrs. Jacquline S. Harvey, 64, of Braceville, passed away peacefully at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Provena Saint Joseph's Medical Center in Joliet with her immediate family by her side.
She had faught a courageous battle for the past 27 months with pancreatic cancer of the Bile-Duct.
Born March 6, 1945, in Ipswich, England-Suffolk, Jacquline was the daughter of Douglas and Hilda (Markwell) Beckett. She was educated in her native England in the local schools of Ipswich Town. She also attended boarding school in Windsor, London, England.
Jacquline married Donald D. Harvey on July 26, 1969 in Morris, by the Honorable Judge Windsor at his residence.
Jacquline was employed in England in her earlier years at Britania Children's Home in Ipswich. She also worked at several restaurants as a waitress. Her employment after marriage included 14 years as a supervisor at Jemco Engineering in Gardner and later in Wilmington. She later worked as an assistant manager at Super Pantry in Coal City for four years and at Casey's General Store in Braceville for eight years. Before becoming ill, she worked at Marketti's BP/Amoco in Coal City as a cashier.
She was a member of Caterpillar Joliet Retirees Club and the Machinists' Retirees Club. She also was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington, as well as a member of the Woman of the Moose Chapter 544 in Morris.
Survivors include her loving husband of more than 40 years, Donald of Braceville; twin children, Denise (Shawn) Cilfford of Coal City, and son, Donald Jr. (Kelly) of South Wilmington; three dearly-loved grandchildren, Andrew Harvey of Dwight, and Vyvyanne and Jeffrey Perino of Coal City; her step-father, Douglas Beckett of Ipswich, England; brother, Malcolm (Val) Markwell of Henley-Ipswich England; brother, Douglas (close friend Pat Gant) Beckett of Ipswich, England; sister, Hilary (Steve) Hylton of Leiston, England; brother, David (Rosalyn) Beckett of Ipswich, England; brother, Richard (Sue) Beckett of Ipswich, England; and brother and sister-in-law's James (close friend Sharon) Harvey of Braceville, John (Denise) Harvey of Braceville and Michael (Janet) Harvey of Alton, George (Nellie) Harvey of Panama City, Panama; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Jacquline was preceded in death by her mother, Hilda Beckett; her father and mother-in-law, George and Mary Harvey; and aunts and uncles.
Jacquline was an avid bingo player and a great knitter. She loved to embroider many lovely things for her daughter, granddaughter and her many friends and family. She was a very fond of dogs and cherished her three dogs through the years.
She was a lovely person and loved everyone she met. She will always be remembered to her immediate family as "Our English Rose."
She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. Together with her husband, they traveled 49 of the 50 States, with Alaska to be their 50th until she took ill and could not travel.
She was also very happy to visit her family in England, having gone many times. They traveled the whole British Isle together except for Ireland.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery in Braceville.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to donor's choice would be appreciated.
