AMBOY – Leona F. Welty, 87, of Amboy, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Liberty Court, Dixon.

Leona was born May 11, 1922, in Amboy, the daughter of Harold and Esther (Rollins) Donnelly. She married Charles F. Welty on May 8, 1943, in Long Beach, Calif. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2006. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy, and Shady Oaks Country Club.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Susan) Welty of Amboy and Tom Welty of Grand Detour; three daughters, Patricia Welty and Jan (Gail) Dallam, both of Amboy, and Beth (Charlie) Leech of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; one sister, Eileen (Pete) O’Rourke of Amboy; two brothers, Paul (Libby) Donnelly of St. Louis and Jeri (Sara) Donnelly of Dixon; nine grandchildren, Tricia (Jeff) Meyer, Matt Welty, Molly Welty, Breanne Welty, Cole Welty, Katie (Andy) Pratt, Stacey (Nick) Dinges, Brian (Angie) Dallam, and Andy Leech; and six great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Kennedy and Doris Welty; and one brother, Harold Donnelly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy, with the Rev. Carl Beekman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Amboy.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Scripture service at 8 p.m., Tuesday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy.
